Your project data

When you create a Gantt chart, it is saved in your browser's local storage on your device. It is not transmitted to us or stored on our servers. If you clear your browser data, your projects are removed. You are in full control: you can export a JSON backup, a CSV, or a shareable link at any time.

Shareable links

When you generate a shareable link, your project data is encoded directly into the link (the part after #). This means the data travels inside the URL and is not stored on a server. Only people you send the link to can open it.

What we don't collect

• We don't require an email, name, or account.
• We don't upload or read the contents of your Gantt charts.
• We don't sell data, we don't have your data to sell.

Analytics & hosting

Like most websites, our web host may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and performance.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful, which guides get read, which templates get downloaded, and whether the editor is being opened. This tells us what to improve. It measures pages, not plans: nothing about the projects you build is sent anywhere, because your project data never leaves your browser in the first place.

It does not run unless you say yes. Analytics is off until you accept it on the banner. Until then, and permanently, if you decline, your browser makes no request to Google at all. We are not loading it in a disabled state or sending "cookieless" pings; the script is simply never fetched. Declining costs you nothing, because nothing on the page was waiting for it.

If you accept, Google Analytics collects the usual page-level information, the page you are on, roughly where in the world you are, your browser and device type, and how you arrived. Google processes this data as described in Google's privacy policy. You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of any page; declining there also deletes the analytics cookies already on your device. You can additionally opt out with Google's browser add-on or any extension that blocks analytics, the tool works exactly the same either way.

Advertising

gantts.app shows ads through Google AdSense to keep the tool free. Unlike analytics, the AdSense script loads on every page as part of the site. Google, as a third-party vendor, may use cookies (such as __gads and __eoi) to serve ads, cap how often you see one, and measure whether they work.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google shows you a consent choice before setting any personalised-advertising cookie, using Google's own certified consent message. You can change that choice at any time, and you can turn ad personalisation off entirely in Google Ad Settings. Google's use of advertising data is described in how Google uses cookies in advertising.

We run no other ad network, and we never hand your project data to advertisers. Your plans never leave your browser, so there is nothing about them for anyone to target.

Third-party libraries

The app loads a few open-source libraries (for exporting to PDF, Excel and PowerPoint) from a public CDN. These requests are made by your browser to fetch code; they don't include your project data.

Cookies

If you decline analytics, we set no analytics cookies. Not a reduced set, none. Advertising cookies are handled separately by Google (see Advertising above); in the EEA, UK and Switzerland they are set only after you make Google's consent choice.

If you accept analytics, Google Analytics sets two: _ga and _ga_3ZFCTKWL1D, which distinguish one visitor from another so that ten pageviews from one person are not counted as ten people. They contain a random identifier, not your name or anything you typed. Google AdSense may additionally set advertising cookies as described above. We do not sell your data, and no cookie here contains your name or anything you typed into a chart.

Your answer itself is remembered in local storage rather than in a cookie, precisely so that declining leaves you with none. It records only "granted" or "denied" and the date.

Everything else is also your browser's local storage, and never leaves your device: your projects, and preferences like light or dark theme. Clearing your browser data removes all of it, including your cookie choice, so we will ask again.

Change your cookie choice

Earlier versions of this page said gantts.app used no tracking cookies. That was true until we added Google Analytics on 19 July 2026, and this page was updated the same day. On 20 July 2026 analytics was moved behind a consent banner: it had been loading for everyone automatically, and now loads for nobody until they accept. On 4 September 2026 we added Google AdSense to keep the tool free, and added the Advertising section above the same day; EEA, UK and Swiss visitors are asked for consent by Google before any personalised-ad cookie is set.
